Think the jockey change was inevitable, thats what we want from a school/piece of work, very informative from the jockey, you look and sound happier too, brilliant that he hasn't been scared off by the fall
@@armchairjockey- thanks for getting In contact and yes good bit of work and feedback. Really pleased the fall does not seem to have affected his confidence
@onecarefulowner with the confidence issue behind him would you consider another attempt over fences this season with a more confident hurdle run/ride under his belt ?
@ Certainly still have chasing on my mind. At the moment we need him to get his confidence sky high over hurdles. It might be fences are tried again next season. I’ll see what James thinks once he has schooled him over a practice French. As James said in this weeks video , he is very low and slick at his hurdles which does not stream out fences. He is flat bred but is a big boy at the same time. One day at a time right now. It’s been an unfortunate season up to now. Let’s hope the final part of the season goes much better. We are still some what confused to what distance he wants so we will start to creep him up in distance to find out. I am starting to wonder if he is a 3 miler who has fooled us into thinking he has more speed as he travels so well. Thanks again
As they say a change is as good as good as a rest, the best is yet to come, max looking terrific. Nice to see you looking confident and happy. Hug for max ❤
Thanks for the update Matt. Max is looking well and happy. It’s good to try different tactics and great that James has ridden him before. Yes Lilly is a good jockey. I am delighted Max is not traumatized by the fall. I love the part where he is drinking water from the hose, he is a playful character ❤
@ Hi Matt, thank you for your reply, this is a very enjoyable and emotional journey, it’s nice to see the reality of owning a lovely horse, it’s easy to overlook what actually goes into the day to day life of a racehorse, excited and hopeful for you, be great if your Chanel can grow as I’m sure people who enjoy racing will appreciate it, best wishes, Mel
Great decision to make a change. I think the analysis that James gave following the gallop was honest and informative, I kind of got the impression that Ms Pinchin was going through the motions a bit, good luck, hoping for the best for you.
Thanks for the upload as always very informative,as an avid national hunt punter I can say that James Davies is a great pilot and a real tryer no disrespect to Lilly ,wish you all the best with max
Just subscribed after watching this video. Love horse racing and the jumps particularly and been following the sport since 1991. Great to get an owners perspective too
I was going to suggest a jockey change, but glad you've decided something else, different jockeys get different feels for the movement and pace of a horse, so fingers crossed
Totally agree with some people on here, new jockey new feel for the horse and the way that different jockeys present a horse to a hurdle/fence is different great see there was no worries with the horse mentally. Like I said my view it was a stumble not really a fall. Thanks for the update
Tough decisions need to be made and Lily being an accomplished and talented rider will understand the plan to try a different jockey in order to progress Max's performances. Hopefully Max will play his part and all will come good.
@tiasworld123 , Ho, have not given up hope on fences. Just want to get some confidence with him right now. It may be something I go back to next season. Very much one day at a time right now 👍
You can see by your face your happy with max his jumping and having James back on him for next run I wish you all the very best and I agree lilly is a brilliant jockey the old saying A CHANGE IS AS GOOD AS THE REST ,,come on max there is a race or 2 still in you 😊😅
Dropped us 2lb. I’d like to see him in a race off a nice low weight. All his best form in Class 2 company was achieved with very low weight. Probably a horse better carrying low in a better class rather than having a big weight in lessor company.
Absolutely, I am very loyal but as you will imagine, it’s ticking all the boxes including all the homework done before going to the races. Thanks for watching.
James Davies top jockey and bloke Was our jock when we had a couple with ownaracehorse!! Ask him about Banana with Tom Gretton? Good luck and onward and upwards
Max still not fit, taking a blow in a sedate gallop. It is the trainer that needs replacing; or Max retired. Like you say, you pay the bills and must cut one's coat according to one's cloth.
Thanks for watching. I am sharing candid footage of my journey with ownership. It’s sport, I am not one of them who believes it’s the taken part that counts 😂…
I think the problem lies with the handicapper. He's getting on now and deserves to be dropped a few pounds. You obviously care so much for Max. Hope your luck changes.
Hi matt why don't you stick him with Jamie snowdon he is also based in Lambourn he also uses gavin sheehan who's a brilliant jockey I think he style of riding would suit max to a tee.
Hi Andrew , Mr Snowden is a very good NH trainer granted and Gavin Sheehan is also a very good thinking jockey and a great tactician…Right now the focus must be one day at a time. James also rides for Jamie Snowden from time to time which tells you how capable James is. I’ll think you will get to see why over the weeks. Thanks for your thoughts. 💭
Im sure you havent done it out of spite and are keen to do whats best for the horse and yourself. The game is all about maximising your chances and Im sure if Max was winning or running well changes wouldnt be needed. Lily will understand, easy for people to comment on loyalty who are on the sidelines. The horse and yourself are the number 1 priority. Hope it works out for you
I will not comment on your decision to change jockeys. It's none of my business. I personally like Gavin Sheehan and Joe Anderson. What was your trainer's reaction? I remember the Dikler nobody was any good on him till Ron Barry rode him.
Enjoy the content and wish you luck with Max. However I agree a jockey change might work, but not this chap. Davies is a jockey I avoid see his latest effort on Exmoor Forest whip happy and unbalanced. He is basically a journeyman jockey 60 odd winners in 5 seasons and only rode the short priced JP horse at Lingfield as he is retained by Nick Gifford.
Thanks for your thoughts. Think you are being hard on James. JP has his own jockeys , tells you plenty that he let James ride. Very underrated Jockey but I am sure you will see over the weeks what I do. Thanks again
James is a decent jockey, he certainly knows how to hold a horse together until the final moments. I figure this horse needs producing late, problem is i also don’t think it has the gears but then again at this level most haven’t. I did suggest this a couple of weeks ago.

At the end of the day for the change of jockey as you can't blame Lily . But the new jockey knows Max and might get the best out of him again .
